A few updates from today:


The team placed a lumbar drain to help relieve pressure and remove the brain fluid that has been leaking from his nose. The drain goes directly into his spine, and the procedure was done by a brain surgeon.

There is concern that the leaking fluid could interfere with the healing of his sinus fractures. Because the fractures are constantly getting wet, it becomes harder for that area to heal properly.


To understand exactly where the fluid is traveling, the doctors added a special dye to his spinal fluid. This will show whether the flow is moving in the right direction. If it is not, surgery on his sinuses will likely be needed.


We are still waiting on the liver scan results and expect to have them tomorrow.


His femur surgery is still scheduled for tomorrow. The good news is that it has been set for 7:30 in the morning. The surgery should take a couple of hours.


Once his femur is repaired, the doctors will be able to complete the MRI of his spine and neck. They are concerned about potential damage in those areas and want to avoid fusing any vertebrae because of his young age.
